Here we are still in the middle of a pandemic and now the Holidays are approaching. Many of us are thinking what will the holidays be like during this time? How will we share this time with family, but remain safe and social distance? There are so many questions, many that still cannot be answered. What I will say is that there are ways to stay connected with your family & friends during the holidays to keep the spirit merry and bright.

Send Hand-written Letters & Cards

COVID 19 maybe delaying mail, but certainly not stopping it! Take time to write to family and friends that are not traveling this year and show them appreciation and love. Thanksgiving is a holiday we rarely send cards for, but this year send notes of gratitude to those you love. This will make their day and maybe even encourage them to spread the love to others. If you are not into hand-written letters, NO WORRIES! Send e-cards, these can be made by us at HHC or you can make them online yourself. Then send it to those you know will appreciate the gesture, via email, social media or even text message.

Schedule a Virtual Family Check-In

Check in with your family virtually, send everyone a invite to join a Zoom or HouseParty. These platforms are free and easy for anyone to use with a phone, tablet, or computer. While you all catch up add in a fun game to get everyone smiling and laughing. Many of these platforms come with programed games or you can bring your own ideas to the table. Games such as "Go Find this", "Song Association", Trivia, or "Guess Who". Do not be afraid to encourage someone else to host the next Family Virtual check in, keep the fun going!

Create a Tradition That Does Not Require Gathering

Think of ways you can do things as a family without gathering together in the same space. For example do a family fundraiser next year's family reunion trip and have everyone compete on who can raise the most money. Find a local charity and ask everyone to join you in sending in care packages to the homeless shelter or dropping off canned foods. Do secret Santa deliveries, surprising those you love with a treat at their front door. Think about those in need more than ever this year. So many families were hit by COVID 19 with loss of life, income, homes, and employment. Find ways to help those in your community and have your family join you in giving back.
